TOMOYUKI HACHIGO

Based in Tokyo, Tomoyuki is a Japanese-Australian bassist from Sydney.

Growing up in a musical family with a piano-teacher mother, he was immersed in music from an early age and began learning the violin at the age of five. He started playing the bass later in life, initially on the bass guitar and then picked up the double bass.

In Australia, he performed regularly at venues across Sydney, including leading his own jazz residencies, as well as working as a bassist in a wide range of styles such as R&B, hip-hop, soul, funk, and afrobeat.

In 2022, he started playing in Sydney-based singer-songwriter/rapper Jade Kenji’s band, and has performed at numerous festivals such as Vivid Sydney, Parramatta Lanes, WorldPride and 4E Sydney. In 2024 he also toured interstate with a jazz trio, performing at venues such as the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania.

In January 2025, Tomoyuki relocated to Tokyo, where he is now active in the city’s music scene. He performs in various settings and hosts a monthly jam session at the jazz bar Lezard Daikanyama.

八郷トモユキ

東京都在住、シドニー出身の日系オーストラリア人ベーシスト。

ピアノ講師の母親の影響で音楽に幼少期から親しみ、5歳からバイオリンを始める。その後ベースを始め、当初はエレキベースを演奏し、のちにコントラバスへと活動の幅を広げた。

オーストラリアでは自己の率いるレジデンシーを含むシドニー市内のバーやレストランでジャズを演奏する一方、R&B、ヒップホップ、ソウル、ファンク、アフロビート等、幅広いジャンルの演奏にベーシストとして参加。

2022年からシンガー・ソングライター/ラッパーのアーティスト Jade Kenji のバンドに所属し Vivid Sydney,、Parramatta Lanes、WorldPride、4E Sydney 等フェスティバルに多数出演。また、2024年にはジャズトリオのサイドメンとしてオーストラリア国内ツアーにも参加し、タスマニア州ホバートの Museum of New and Old Art (MONA) で演奏した。

2025年1月に東京へ移住し、現在は代官山のジャズ・バー「レザール」で月例のセッション・ホストなど、都内を中心に活動している。
